The Jamb Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede has pronounced the National Identity Number as no longer required for registration in the 2020 UTME. He made this clear at a press conference which was ongoing at the time of writing this story, at the Jamb head office, Abuja. The board that announced this also added that the NIN would be a requirement in 2021, but no longer in 2020. The sudden change according to Prof. Oloyede is due to some “technical Issues”.

It has been noted before time that entrants for the 2020 UTME had had lots of difficulties registering, having problems from long queues at banks and strenuous processes to achieve the registration.

This information is as well applicable to the Direct entry registration for the UTME as well, and the process as regards the NIN is announced to be set aside till 2021.
